Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige says Avengers: Secret Wars will establish a more streamlined version of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that is easier for audiences to follow.

Feige discussed the future of the franchise during a Shanghai interview published through Watching Hollywood on Weibo. He described Secret Wars as the beginning of Marvel Studios’ next major era rather than only the conclusion of the current Multiverse Saga.

“It will establish a streamlined, simplified, single universe that’s easier for audiences to follow,” Feige said. “Some aspects will feel familiar. But many, many things will be entirely new.”

The comments suggest that Secret Wars will reorganize the MCU’s characters, worlds and ongoing storylines into a clearer shared universe. However, Marvel Studios has not yet revealed which existing characters, events or timelines will remain unchanged.

Feige also said the next universe is intended to connect with a younger generation of viewers. The X-Men are expected to become a central part of Marvel’s plans following the conclusion of the Multiverse Saga.

Avengers: Secret Wars will follow Avengers: Doomsday, which is expected to bring characters from several Marvel universes together as the current saga moves toward its conclusion.

Marvel has not formally described Secret Wars as a complete reboot. Feige’s comments instead point toward a major restructuring that will retain some familiar elements while introducing new versions of the MCU’s characters and stories.

Avengers: Secret Wars is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 17, 2027.
