Sentenced to Be a Hero is officially returning for Season 2.

The new season was announced during AnimeJapan 2026, along with an announcement trailer and a new teaser visual. Production is now underway, although an official premiere date has not been revealed.

The dark fantasy series follows Xylo Forbartz and Penal Hero Unit 9004 in a world where heroism is used as punishment. Criminals are forced to fight an endless war against the Demon Blight, and death does not free them. Fallen heroes are brought back and sent straight into battle again.

Season 2 will continue Xylo’s story as his alliance with Teoritta pushes the penal heroes deeper into a dangerous fight that could change their world.

Crunchyroll has confirmed that the second season will stream on the platform when it premieres.

The release is currently listed for December 31, 2027 while fans wait for the confirmed schedule. The date will be updated as soon as the official premiere is announced.
