Marvel Studios is looking far beyond its currently announced slate, with studio president Kevin Feige revealing that internal planning discussions have reached as far ahead as 2042.

Feige shared the detail during an interview in Shanghai published through Watching Hollywood on Weibo. He explained that Marvel Studios had recently discussed potential movies extending through 2042 as part of its long-term approach to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The studio’s roadmap should not be treated as a confirmed release schedule. Feige acknowledged that Marvel may not ultimately reach 2042 with the same projects currently being discussed and that its plans will continue to change as stories, audiences and production priorities evolve.

Long-range planning has been central to Marvel Studios since the early years of the MCU. The company frequently develops several connected projects at once so characters and storylines can be positioned across future movies and television releases.

Marvel’s immediate theatrical plans remain focused on projects including Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. The next era of the MCU is also expected to place greater emphasis on the X-Men.

Feige’s comments show that Marvel Studios still sees significant long-term potential in its comic-book characters, even though the exact movies, casts and release dates beyond its officially announced slate remain undecided.
