Gillian Anderson has returned to familiar territory for the reveal of LEGO Ideas The X-Files, a new building set inspired by the long-running science-fiction series.

The promotional short places Anderson back in an investigation that feels immediately familiar to anyone who watched her as FBI Special Agent Dana Scully. Alone in a hotel room, she hears a knock at the door and discovers a mysterious package waiting outside.

After putting on a pair of gloves, Anderson carefully opens the box and begins examining its contents like evidence from an unexplained case. She records her observations while sorting through sealed bags of LEGO pieces and slowly uncovering what has been sent to her.

The mystery eventually leads to LEGO Ideas The X-Files set 21369.

The 1,478-piece display model recreates two of the show’s most recognizable settings. The lower section features Fox Mulder’s crowded basement office, complete with case files and references to the series. Above it sits a forest scene with a UFO suspended over the trees.

The set also includes minifigures based on several characters from the series, including Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. Anderson jokes about Mulder’s smaller LEGO appearance after assembling his minifigure during the video.

The reveal brings Anderson back to the tone of Scully without presenting the promo as a full return to the television series. Her careful examination of the package, skeptical delivery and recorded notes turn the product reveal into a short paranormal investigation.

LEGO Ideas The X-Files originated from a fan-created concept inspired by the series. The final set was developed into an official release after the project gained support through LEGO Ideas.

LEGO Insiders will receive early access beginning August 1, 2026. The set will become generally available on August 4, 2026.
