Content warning: This article discusses allegations of sexual misconduct involving teenagers.
A new BBC investigation has detailed serious allegations against actor and Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto.
The documentary, Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret, includes accounts from ten women. Nine are reportedly sharing their experiences publicly for the first time.
Four women accused Leto of conduct they allege could have been criminal. They said the reported incidents occurred between 2002 and 2016, when they were teenagers and Leto was in his thirties or forties.
These claims remain allegations. They have not been established as fact through a criminal trial or court ruling, and no finding of guilt has been made.
The allegations described in the documentary include claims of sexual assault, sexual contact involving a 17-year-old, sexually explicit telephone conversations that allegedly began when one woman was 16, and threatening behavior toward another woman.
The BBC said it reviewed photographs and messages that supported parts of several accounts. Reporters also interviewed friends and relatives who were reportedly told about some of the alleged incidents at the time.
One participant said she received a non-disclosure agreement intended to prevent her from discussing her relationship with Leto. She refused to sign it, and the BBC reported that its journalists reviewed the document.
Two former employees connected to Thirty Seconds to Mars also spoke during the investigation. They described concerns among some staff members about Leto’s alleged interactions with teenage fans during tours.
The BBC said it repeatedly contacted Leto and provided details of the new allegations, but he had not responded before the investigation was published.
A representative for Leto previously denied allegations contained in a separate 2025 report. That earlier response did not directly address the new accounts presented in the BBC investigation.
The new documentary adds to the continuing public discussion surrounding allegations previously made against the actor and musician.
No criminal responsibility has been established. The allegations would need to be examined through the appropriate legal process before any conclusion about guilt could be reached.
