Netflix has acquired the U.S. and Latin American distribution rights to Ink, the upcoming historical drama directed by Danny Boyle.
Set in 1969, the film follows media tycoon Rupert Murdoch and newspaper editor Larry Lamb as they relaunch The Sun and transform it into one of Britain’s most influential tabloid newspapers.
Guy Pearce portrays Murdoch, while Jack O’Connell stars as Lamb. Claire Foy also appears in the film’s principal cast.
Ink was written by James Graham and adapted from his acclaimed stage play of the same name. The film is produced by StudioCanal, Media Res, and House Productions, with StudioCanal fully financing the project.
The movie will hold its world premiere in competition as the opening film of the 83rd Venice International Film Festival on September 2, 2026.
StudioCanal will release Ink theatrically across several international territories, including the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Australia, and New Zealand.
Netflix has not yet announced when Ink will become available in the United States or Latin America, or whether it will receive a theatrical release in those regions.
