The first image of Gandalf in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3 has been revealed, showing Daniel Weyman’s wizard embracing the familiar appearance associated with the legendary Middle-earth character.
The new image, released through Empire, shows Gandalf wearing a wide-brimmed grey hat, layered robes and a long beard while holding a wooden staff beside a small flame.
It is his most recognizable Gandalf appearance in the series so far.
Weyman’s character was originally introduced only as the Stranger after falling from the sky during the opening season. His identity remained uncertain as he slowly learned how to speak, control his abilities and understand his place in Middle-earth.
Season 2 finally confirmed that the Stranger was Gandalf after he discovered both his name and the staff that helped complete his transformation.
The new Season 3 image moves the character closer to the wandering Grey Wizard audiences know from J.R.R. Tolkien’s stories. His clothing appears more weathered and complete, while the pointed hat immediately separates this version from the uncertain figure introduced at the beginning of the series.
The next season takes place several years after the events of Season 2 and moves deeper into the War of the Elves and Sauron.
Sauron is working toward the creation of the One Ring as he attempts to gain enough power to dominate the peoples of Middle-earth. The time jump will allow the story to move closer to several major events from the Second Age.
Daniel Weyman returns as Gandalf alongside Charlie Vickers as Sauron, Morfydd Clark as Galadriel, Robert Aramayo as Elrond and Lloyd Owen as Elendil.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3 premieres exclusively on Prime Video on November 11, 2026.
