Bethesda Game Studios has officially confirmed that remasters of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas are currently in development.

The studio revealed the projects as part of a wider update outlining the future of its major franchises. Bethesda acknowledged the continued demand from players who want to revisit the two classic role-playing games on modern hardware.

No release dates, platforms, developers, gameplay footage or screenshots have been announced for either remaster.

Bethesda also confirmed that Fallout 5 has entered pre-production. The game remains a long-term project, while The Elder Scrolls VI is currently the studio’s primary development focus.

Both Fallout 5 and The Elder Scrolls VI are being developed with Bethesda’s updated Creation Engine 3 technology.

In addition to the remasters and Fallout 5, Obsidian Entertainment is working on a separate new project set within the Fallout universe. Bethesda has not yet revealed whether that project is a sequel, spin-off or another type of experience.

Fallout 3 originally launched in 2008 and introduced Bethesda’s open-world interpretation of the post-apocalyptic series. Fallout: New Vegas followed in 2010 and was developed by Obsidian Entertainment.

More information about the remasters and Bethesda’s future Fallout projects will be announced at a later date.
