A live-action adaptation of Afterlife With Archie is reportedly being developed for Disney+.

According to DiscussingFilm, the series is expected to premiere in October 2027 and will reimagine the familiar Archie Comics characters inside an apocalyptic world overrun by zombies.

Riverdale creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is reportedly developing the project. Aguirre-Sacasa also wrote the original Afterlife With Archie comic series, which launched Archie Horror as a darker branch of the long-running comic universe.

The comic begins after Jughead Jones’ dog, Hot Dog, is killed and later resurrected through forbidden magic. The resurrection goes horribly wrong, triggering a zombie outbreak that rapidly spreads through Riverdale.

Archie Andrews and the remaining survivors are forced to abandon their normal lives as the town becomes consumed by the undead. Betty Cooper, Veronica Lodge, Reggie Mantle and other recognizable characters are pulled into a story built around survival, betrayal and supernatural horror.

Afterlife With Archie was originally published with artwork by Francesco Francavilla. The series became known for taking the usually lighthearted Archie characters into a violent and unsettling horror setting.

Aguirre-Sacasa previously brought Archie Comics characters to live action through Riverdale and later developed Chilling Adventures of Sabrina for Netflix.

The reported Disney+ adaptation would be separate from Riverdale and is expected to offer a new interpretation of the characters rather than continuing the CW series.

Disney+, Archie Comics and the reported creative team have not yet publicly released complete production details, casting information or an exact premiere date.

Until an official announcement is released, the October 2027 window should be treated as reported rather than final.
